General Help at CraftAbility

Would you like to help the community in Thaxted? 

Our members come to the Centre on Mondays and Thursdays – we are centrally located in Thaxted near the Tennis courts (with parking).

We offer recreational and social activities to promote and increase independence; and the active social environment offers many additional benefits.  Members are supported by volunteer helpers. We have a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere; our members enjoy coming to meet with other people and engage with a variety of people.

Volunteers greet and meet members on arrival; help people settle and get comfortable;  and provide general assistance as and when required. Helping with crafts.

We organise and host outings and everyone (members and volunteers) has the opportunity to join outings several times a year. We also host regular fundraising events i.e. coffee mornings, craft fairs and table top crafts at village events.

First aid training is not essential, we offer training on an annual basis (certificate provided). And we offer Safeguard training.

There is no personal care or manual handling required from our volunteers.

What skills do I need?

A background in care, social support or medical services would be ideal.
