Information about the role:

We are specifically looking for trustees with the following skillsets:

  

·         Fundraising Trustee

We would like to hear from people with a background in income generation.  In addition to participating in all governance matters we would like you to use your experience and knowledge of income generation, fund raising, bid writing to support the CEO and management team as they work to diversify funding streams and create levels of income require to ensure the growth and sustainability of our services.

 

The fundraising trustee will be essential to expanding our income streams and building our long-term sustainability.

 

·         Finance Trustee

We would like to hear from people with a background in finance. In addition to participating in all governance matters and strategic development, we would like you to use your experience and skills to ensure that the charity’s financial policies and procedures represent best practice. 

 

The finance trustee will be essential to ensuring that the board understands and complies with its financial duties.

 

To support day to day operations we would like you to support the CEO and management team in making sound financial decisions, including risk management, fund raising and contingency planning. 

 

·         Strategy Trustee

We would like to hear from people with a background in corporate strategy or planning. In addition to participating in all governance matters, we would like you to use your experience and skills to ensure that the charity’s focus and sustainability is developed in line with opportunities within the sectors that we service and challenges that the non-profit sector in general faces. 

 

You may have a background in education, children’s services, advocacy or organisational development. The strategy trustee will be essential ensuring sustainable growth through service development, appropriate partnerships and relationships with funders.

 

To support day to day operations we would like you to support the CEO and management team as they identify and assess opportunities and as they build a sustainable future for the organisation.

 

·         Research and Program Development Trustee

Over the years, we have been very successful in taking an evidenced-based approach when working with partners to develop peer support programs and associated training.

 

To provide the management team with more support as we seek to develop this approach further, we would like to hear from people with a background in academia, research or consultancy and who have expertise in family health, maternal and perinatal health. Experience in writing academic papers, links to collaborative academic networks, securing research grants (either for targeted pieces of work or on a longitudinal basis) across England and Europe would be welcomed, 

 

The Research and Program Development Trustee will work with other Trustees and with the management team to identify and prioritise research initiatives and funding opportunities that will ensure that we can develop a range of new evidence-based programs from concept through to delivery.

 

In this role you will act as an ambassador for Parents 1st UK and as a member of the Board of Trustees you will contribute to all aspects of the organisation’s governance.

 

·         Chair of Trustees

We also have an opportunity for a new Chair of Trustees. We would like to hear from individuals with the skills, experience and time to ensure that the board provides the organisation with effective governance whilst at the same time acting as one of its ambassadors. Networks within Essex would be an advantage.

 

The new chair will be essential to supporting the board and the management team as we create a new organisational structure under new leadership.

Availability Details

Trustees are required to commit sufficient time for this role. There will be an average of four trustee meetings and one away day annually with ad-hoc meetings as required. The total time commitment is on average 6/8 days per year. Please note: This is a voluntary role
