Do you have a passion for Gardening & Horticulture? Interested in Mental Health & Wellbeing?

Keen to encourage people into outdoor activity? If Yes – you may be the person we are looking for!

Trustees are sought for Dig It Community Allotment a small community gardening and food growing charity in Saffron Walden. We meet twice a week for work sessions at our allotment site, and occasionally at other locations.

Dig It have been running for over seven years with an excellent track record for supporting people back to work or helping them through difficult life situations. Our allotment is also just a good place to meet people, keep fit and share in some collectively grown produce.

We try to carry out at least one community venture each year such as creating gardens for other non-profit organisations or working at local nature reserves. We have some new and interesting projects in the community this year – we have just started working on a heritage garden and have plans to run some events at a local woodland site.

After a period of seeing many volunteers move on and some trustees coming to the end of their tenure we are down to a small, but dedicated and friendly, group with lots of potential. If you would like to be part of re-invigorating and helping us moving on to the next phase of our enterprise, please do get in touch.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people with a keen interest in gardening, food growing or environmental issues and with a desire to build supportive, inclusive communities. A non-judgemental attitude to participants with a range of support needs is essential.

We are particularly keen to find people with the following expertise:

• financial and accounting experience

• horticultural knowledge

As well as those with an interest in:

• networking and publicity
