Maldon & District Community Voluntary Service (CVS) is celebrating 25 years of supporting voluntary action and strengthening communities across the Maldon District.
Established in 2001 to meet a growing need for local voluntary sector infrastructure, Maldon & District CVS has spent the last quarter century helping communities to thrive. The organisation supports charities, community groups, volunteers, and local residents, and has become a trusted partner and vital hub for advice, collaboration, and community‑led action across the district.
At its core, Maldon & District CVS exists to support strong, connected communities. It provides practical assistance to voluntary and community organisations, empowers people to get involved locally, and helps ensure that community voices are heard. Its work spans towns and villages throughout the district, responding to both everyday challenges and times of crisis.
The charity delivers a wide range of services, including tailored support for voluntary and community organisations through consultancy, governance advice, training, and DBS checks. Maldon & District CVS also delivers and supports community projects that tackle isolation, promote wellbeing, and assist people experiencing hardship. In addition, the organisation helps individuals and families access emergency support and community‑based services when needed.
Over the past 25 years, Maldon & District CVS has continually adapted to changing local needs. It has played a significant role during periods of increased pressure, including the COVID‑19 pandemic and the ongoing cost of living crisis. By working closely with local authorities, health services, funders, and community organisations, the CVS has helped ensure that support reaches people when and where it is most needed.
Reflecting on the milestone anniversary, Sarah Troop, Director at Maldon & District CVS said: “Reaching 25 years is a huge achievement and a testament to the dedication of our staff, trustees, volunteers, and partner organisations. At our heart, we are about people helping people. We are incredibly proud of the role we have played in supporting communities across the district and excited to continue this work into the future.”
As part of its anniversary year, Maldon & District CVS will be reflecting on its history, celebrating the people and organisations it has supported, and looking ahead to how it can continue to strengthen community resilience in the years to come.
