Fundraiser

The Sea-Change Sailing Trust operates from Maldon and Heybridge, taking around 200 young people and vulnerable adults each year to live and work aboard a Thames sailing barge.

As part of our succession plan, we are looking for someone to take on the part-time role of fundraiser. You should have experience of fundraising in the charitable sector or be able to demonstrate success in managing complex projects involving people, in which case the right person will receive support as well as appropriate training.

Maldon Museum in the Park is run entirely by volunteers. The museum tells the history of people, places and objects from Maldon District.

Volunteer Trustee

Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome are seeking to appoint a number of new Trustees to join our friendly and committed Board,  We welcome applications from people from all backgrounds.  Knowledge of the heritage sector, or previous experience as a charity trustee, is not a requirement and all new Trustees receive a supported induction.

Secretary to Trustees

Provide administrative support to the charity’s team and board members. Manage communications, including emails, phone calls, and correspondence. Organise and coordinate meetings, take minutes, and ensure timely follow-ups. Maintain accurate records and files (both physical and digital). Support the preparation of reports, newsletters, and other materials (if required).

Volunteer Carpenter

The Thames Sailing Barge Trust is looking for volunteers who have carpentry skills to help with fitting out work and repairs on its two historic sailing barges. These roles would suit people who have had a career in carpentry and are now retired and would like to help preserve the history of these iconic vessels.

Volunteer – Independent Examiner

The Maeldune Trust would like a volunteer for the post of Independent Examiner. This is an annual task to examine our books and records, and report, as required by the Charity Commission, that our annual account is in accordance with those records. A working knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting procedures is needed.

Workshop Buddy

Are you friendly, practical, and passionate about making a difference in your community?
In partnership with Chelmsford Diocese and the Ideas Hub, the Essex Shed Network is launching an exciting new community workshop in central Chelmsford, inspired by the global Men in Sheds movement. This initiative will provide a safe and supportive space for men from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds to come together, connect, and get hands-on with woodwork projects such as making bird boxes and other practical items.
We’re looking for enthusiastic Workshop buddies to join our team!

Conversation volunteer

The Essex Shed Network, in partnership with Chelmsford Diocese and the Ideas Hub, is launching a new weekly Men’s Shed-style community workshop in central Chelmsford to support men from refugee and asylum-seeking backgrounds.

To complement the hands-on activities, we’re looking for friendly and patient Conversation & Community Host Volunteers to help build social connections and support informal English language practice in a relaxed, welcoming environment.
