After successful pilot sessions, the Social Supermarket is now beginning to set up regular events across Maldon and the Dengie. The Maldon District Social Supermarket offers local residents an opportunity to carry out a weekly shop for a fraction of the price of commercial supermarkets.
Funding has been secured to run the mobile Social Supermarket in several locations in the District to help with cost of living challenges many of our residents are experiencing. If you would like to take advantage of the chance save up to 30% on your shopping, come along to one of our regular shopping sessions. Prices at the Social Supermarket will start at just £5 for up to 10 items.
The regular sessions will be held in the following locations:
Southminster United Reformed Church 10.30am – 12pm
13th February
10th April
8th May
5th June
Burnham United Reformed Church 1pm – 2.30pm
27th February
27th March
24th April
22nd May
19th June
The Social Superarket will also be coming the Maldon District Council Offices in the Foyer on Thursday 13th March 1-2.30pm.
Anyone who is interested in finding out more is welcome to come along for an affordable shop, free refreshments and an opportunity to leave feedback and ideas, to help shape the future of the Mobile Social Supermarket in the Maldon and District area.
Maldon and District CVS have been working alongside Essex County Council and Maldon District Council to develop the project. This support includes funding as part of the Community Supermarket Initiative and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Funding has also been provided by the Nuclear Decommissioning Agency.
