Working with ECL, Maldon CVS, Lisa Whitely and volunteers have been working to create a welcoming accessible outdoor space for users of the Chapter House Day Centre and wider community to enjoy.
Volunteers have been working hard over the last few months, weeding and planting the various areas which make up this quiet oasis.
There is a patio area which is a partly shady area ideal for those hot sunny days. Vegetables from the allotment area are now ready for picking and can be enjoyed.
The long border is full of a variety of perennial plants small shrubs and bulbs. The raised planters are filled with herbs, grasses and lavenders forming a sensory area for all to enjoy.
The volunteers are celebrating the first year visitors from other local organisations have come to spend a morning or afternoon in a safe environment and enjoy each other’s company as well as enjoying being outside.
A garden party was held in June to which was a great opportunity invite Maldon’s Mayor, Andrew Lay, Councillor Flo Shaughnessy, Chairman of the Town Council’s Environment Committee to come to visit and meet with the volunteers.
