Shape the Future of Essex: Have Your Say on the 2026–2029 Health Strategy

3 February 2026

How can we make Essex a healthier, fairer place to live? Whether it’s improving mental health support, creating better job opportunities, or building safer neighbourhoods, your lived experience is the missing piece of the puzzle.

The Essex Health and Wellbeing Board is currently developing its strategy for 2026–2029, and the consultation period has been extended to 10 February 2026. This is your chance to tell the decision-makers what really matters to you and your family.

Why This Strategy Matters

This isn’t just a document for a shelf; it’s a roadmap for the next three years. It defines how resources are used to tackle health inequalities and improve the lives of every resident in our county.

The core vision is simple: All residents should be able to achieve good health in safe, thriving communities, with access to support when they need it.

The Four Pillars of Focus

The strategy is built around four key areas. We need to know if we’ve got these right, or if there’s a “pressing challenge” we’ve overlooked:

  1. Children & Young People: Improving life chances from the very start.

  2. Employment & Economy: Helping more people find—and keep—good work.

  3. Resilient Communities: Building connected, healthy, and safe places to live.

  4. Proactive Health: Creating opportunities to improve health and reducing the impact of illness.

Within these pillars, the board is looking at critical priorities like reducing poverty, improving mental health, and promoting healthier lifestyles.

“Your insights are essential to ensure the strategy reflects the real needs and priorities of our communities.”
