Funding to Support Maldon Districts Ukrainian Residents

11 December 2024

Maldon And District CVS have secured funding to provide support to the community of Ukrainian refugees living in the Maldon District. Working in partnership with Maldon District Council and Fullbridge church the funding will create a new staff post to work directly with the community to understand needs and create solutions that enhance support and integration.

Sarah Troop, Director at Maldon and District CVS, said “the needs of people within the Ukrainian community has moved on from the immediate needs for advice and support that they had as newcomers to the district. Through some dedicated staff time we will be able to work with the community to better understand these needs and to signpost and support access to existing services and activities as well as setting up bespoke activities that meet their specific needs”

Examples of this include looking to enhance access to learning English, training courses, support for children or older family members.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council said; “I am pleased to hear that our collaborative partnership work in supporting Ukrainian families, will be further enhanced with the funding that has been secured by the Maldon and District CVS.”

Maldon District Council are hosting a Christmas event for the Ukrainian community on 21st December 2024, at Maldon United Reformed Church 3-6pm – everyone is welcome. For more details and to book free tickets, click here.
