For Essex Voluntary Blood Service
Register your interestWe are looking for unpaid volunteers to help provide courier services for the NHS. This involves the collection of blood and blood products from the NHS Blood Bank in Basildon for time critical delivery to hospitals in the Essex and East London area. We are looking for motorbike riders and car drivers. You will use your own vehicle, and will receive training and have an opportunity to shadow an experienced Blood Runner before going live. We also need Controllers to provide operational support and if this is of interest to you please speak to us. In addition, we service the Essex and Herts Air Ambulances daily from their North Weald and Earls Colne airbases. As a driver or rider you need to have held a full licence for at least 2 years and own your own vehicle. We ask for 3 shifts a month (day or night). We respond to hospital needs so call-outs whilst on shift may range from none to several, depending on hospital needs.

This is an ongoing need. Shifts are daytime 7am to 7pm , nights 7pm to 7 am. We ask for volunteers to commit to 3 shifts a month at timings of their choice
