This role is not particularly demanding in terms of time commitment. The support group meets once a month, on the second Tuesday afternoon between 14.00 - 16.00. Committee meetings are held approximately every couple of months at Elmdon on a Monday morning.
In addition to the regular meetings, we organise a Christmas lunch and, ideally, one or two outings throughout the year and speakers at most of the meetings. We also run an annual street collection to raise funds and awareness.
This role may be especially appealing to someone who has had experience with a friend or family member living with Parkinson’s, but anyone with a caring attitude and a willingness to help is warmly welcomed.
No special skills are required—though they’re always welcome! What we value most is a sympathetic nature, patience (particularly when supporting people who may have mobility or speech difficulties), and ideally, good organisational abilities.
