Community Space Steward (Volunteer)

Help us keep our community centre running smoothly by supporting bookings, welcoming visitors, and making sure our spaces are clean, safe, and ready for local groups to enjoy.  This hands‑on role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical tasks, meeting people, and being part of a friendly team. You’ll help with light caretaking, simple facilities checks, and room set‑ups, as well as assisting with hirer enquiries. Your support helps create a warm, well‑managed space for families, young people, and community groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming visitors, hirers, and community groups using the building
  • Supporting the bookings process (showing people around, answering simple enquiries, updating availability
  • Helping set up and pack down rooms for activities and events
  • Carrying out light caretaking tasks such as tidying, checking equipment, and reporting maintenance issue
  • Ensuring the centre is clean, safe, and ready for use
  • Supporting basic facilities checks (fire exits clear, lights/heating off, doors locked)
  • Being a friendly presence in the building and helping people feel at home

    A hands‑on, people‑centred role supporting the smooth running of a busy community hub. Role Description As a Community Facilities Coordinator, you’ll play an important part in keeping our community centre welcoming, safe, and well‑organised. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical tasks, meeting people, and helping a local space run smoothly. You’ll support the day‑to‑day operation of the building by helping with light caretaking duties, assisting with room bookings and hirer enquiries, and ensuring the hall is ready for the wide range of groups who use it. You’ll be a friendly point of contact for visitors and hirers, helping them feel supported and confident in the space. This role makes a real difference to local residents, community groups, and young people who rely on the centre as a safe and vibrant place to connect.
