Guide Leader - West Bergholt

As leader, you\'ll help run regular Guide unit meetings, and become a part of a team of volunteers who come together to plan and deliver a programme of awesome activities. Become a Guide leader and help girls aged 10-14 know they can do anything.

What you’ll be doing as leader 

As a leader you’ll have responsibility for running the unit, managing the volunteer team and planning activities. Our units are all quite different, which means all leaders do slightly different things. Some groups of leaders share the unit responsibilities or work with behind-the-scenes admin volunteers to help make the guiding magic happen. There’s a lot of space to make this role your own; you can be involved in a way that works for you and fits around your life. But you’ll likely:    

• Plan and deliver activities for girls based on our programme, help girls earn badges and achieve their goals.    
• Lead the team of volunteers to create a safe, fun, welcoming and inclusive space for girls.  
• Communicate with parents, carers and other Girlguiding volunteers, making sure the unit runs smoothly. 
• Learn new things, make new friends and demonstrate our values of caring, challenging, empowering, inclusive, fun and inspiring in all you do. 
• Get to take girls on planned sleepovers, events, trips or adventures! 

What skills do I need?

The skills and qualities you’ll need 

Be friendly, reliable and able to work as part of a team. 

You’ll have: 

• Good organisational skills. 
• Good communication skills.  
• You might have leadership skills.  

But you don’t have to tick every box - our leadership development programme will support you to develop your skills and become the best leader you can be.
