Minibus driver Escorted Shopping Trip

We are looking for a driver to join our escorted shopping team on their Monday trips.

This involves picking up a 13 seater, easy access minibus and driving it to Sainsbury’s, Newbury

Park, picking up shoppers on the way. The trip takes the whole of Monday morning, finishing at

about 2 pm. The team includes escorts who will support the shoppers and there is a rota system

for drivers and escorts.

This is a service which is gives the most elderly and frail of our clients the chance to choose their

own shopping and socialise in a safe way.

Then there are the extra benefits of well-being and purpose which any volunteering brings.

What skills do I need?

Anyone over 21 with a D1 driving licence. LVC will arrange and pay for an

enhanced DBS check and a Midas test for the successful applicant. The test promotes a nationally

recognised standard for the assessment and training of minibus drivers and would enhance your

CV.

The trip is part of our social inclusion programme aimed at preventing loneliness, so it is desirable

that all volunteers have good communication skills, especially listening skills.
