Pantry Volunteer

As a Pantry Volunteer, you'll be involved with welcoming customers into the Pantry as well as assisting them with their shopping while ensuring members get to make their own choices. You'll also be responsible for keeping the Pantry well stocked and well presented at all times. You will build relationships with members and ensure they have a dignified experience at the Pantry.

Summary of main activities and tasks:

• To meet and greet customers visiting the Pantry
• To check payments
• To assist customers with their shopping
• To ensure the Pantry is kept well stocked and well presented
• To contribute to food safety and procedural paperwork
• Assist with basic cleaning duties
• To help promote the Pantry

What your day might look like in this role:

• Welcome Team – managing the queue, being the first point of contact for members, identifying new members and making introductions and overseeing refreshments.
• Sign in/cash desk-recording member visits and payments on the portal, handling cash and card payments and updating member details.
• Shop floor – supporting members to do their shopping, restocking shelves, date checking and tidying up the Pantry.
• Check out – helping members to pack their shopping, ensure they picked up all of their  items and speaking to members about their experience of the Pantry

What skills do I need?

Good communication and customer care skills would be an asset in this role, as would previous experience working in retail. However, all applications are warmly welcomed.
