This is an exciting and rare opportunity to get on board with the Sailing Barge May. We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join our team to help with social media and marketing of our community bakery which we are in the process of putting together. The space, flooring, lights, heating, work benches, fridge and now oven are all done through donations, grants and volunteer time. More is to be done before we are up and running but we are getting there!
We are a women-led project aiming to restore Thames Sailing Barge May to her former glory to become a floating bakery sailing from port to port. Currently we are based at St Osyth Boatyard in a mudberth with good access aboard and are setting up the community bakery below decks
Our aim is for women of all walks of lives who have had trauma in their lives to be invited aboard for social and well-being sessions but we are involved with a variety of community based activities to include afternoon teas, music evenings and health and well-being days aboard
Good communication skills, listening, respecting and participating in monthly meetings with the other volunteers.
A good understanding of marketing streams and social media, to be able to post regularly including stories and reels on facebook and instagram (which we have) and other media platforms that we don’t yet have!
