Tech Volunteer

Do you have the ability to communicate well with people, patience and empathy along with your own transport or good transport links. We pay travel expenses at 45p per mile and all public transport costs

All across the UK our 500+ volunteers support older and/or disabled people at home to offer one-to-one support with their technology, whether that’s a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet.

you will have access to high quality technology and disability training along with a network with a nationwide team of other Coordinators and IT volunteers.

What skills do I need?

• Good IT and computer skills: AbilityNet Tech Volunteers are expected to have a basic understanding of how to use computers and laptops.
• Knowledge of standard operating systems and software: Volunteers should be familiar with the operating systems and software that clients may need help with.
• The ability to communicate well with people: Effective communication is crucial for providing support to clients.
• Patience and empathy: Volunteers should be able to provide support in a patient and empathetic manner, understanding that clients may have different needs and preferences.
• Good transport links: Volunteers should have access to good transport links, either by car or public transport, to reach clients at their homes or locations
