Learning for Pleasure, Brentwood, is a charity run entirely by volunteers. It was founded in 1993, to encourage adult learning for its own sake in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. A by-product was to provide an opportunity for socialising. Most attendees at lectures are fifty plus. Lectures take place in the Spring and Autumn terms.
We are constantly looking for new volunteers to assist in the administration of the charity and to help with the running of courses which are held both online and in situ.
The charity is run by a committee. Responsibilities are shared across the committee to ensure that all roles are manageable, hopefully enjoyable, and not burdensome. Normally, the committee meets six times a year. There is also, of course, an AGM.
If you think that you could assist in the running of the charity whether with administration or housekeeping at lectures, we should be pleased to hear from you.
Admin roles include:
Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Course Compiler, Course Administrator, Compliance, IT and Publicity.
No specific skills required but an interest in lifelong learning, especially as a leisure activity would be beneficial.
