We are a well-established and expanding angling coaching club. Our aim is to get youngsters out onto the bankside to teach them fishing, to give them a sport for life in fact. The average 10-16 year old spends 34 hours a week on electronic devices, a hobby such as ours which embrace’s the outdoors must be a radical improvement on that surely!
We are a “not for profit” venture that would seek to provide opportunities for the younger generation to experience freshwater fishing, and to acquire the skills needed to be successful. We are the only Voluntary angling coaching group in Essex (and Kent) so we have an enormous potential market.
However, with all the success now being experienced, this brings its own challenges and Angling Coaching Initiative must enlist more Volunteer Assistants to meet with demand and ensure an adequate pool of Volunteers exists to teach everyone. ACI have also introduced the CAST scheme, which is an Angling Trust system that guides participants through a structured programme of learning, and rewards students by way of certificates once certain levels of capability have been realised.
We are looking for capable anglers to join us and commit to a number of coaching sessions, whether you can help with 1 or 2 sessions, 3 or 4 or more, we would welcome you on-board. For anyone wishing to go to the next level and commit to a more consistent number of sessions on an ongoing basis, ACI would be willing to support and fund you through the Angling Trust’s Level 1 and Level 2 coaching certifications.

There are 15 angling coaching days in all, but you can volunteer for as many or as few as you wish, as long as we know you are coming that day! Student numbers are geared round the number of coaches for each event, two for each coach. We set up the day’s event between 8-9.30am, coach till 2.30pm, then pack up over the next hour. Mostly Saturdays, plus three weekdays in the school holidays.
