Volunteer Coordinator

Maldon Museum in the Park tells the stories of the people, places and events of Maldon District and is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers. We’d love for you to join us! Volunteers are at the heart of the museum and the Volunteer Co-ordinator role is key to ensuring that our team runs smoothly and everyone feels valued and involved in the life of the museum. This is a crucial role in ensuring the success of the museum but equally rewarding and satisfying. No previous museum experience? No need to worry. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved. You will receive a full induction and during your first few months you will be supported by the Museum Manager. Volunteering with us is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn new skills, and give back to your local community — all while being part of a friendly and passionate team.

What skills do I need?

No experience or qualifications are necessary as this is a good opportunity to gain new skills. However this role would suit people who: • Have an interest in people and enjoy meeting new people of all ages and backgrounds • Are welcoming, approachable and helpful • Reliable, well-presented and happy to take on responsibility for others • Have good written and spoken communication skills, willing to share information with visitors • Are proactive with a positive nature and have a constructive approach to getting the best out of others • Are organised and good at keeping simple records to support the volunteer team • Comfortable working as part of a team and independently
