Volunteer Driver

For Home - Start Essex

As a Volunteer Driver, you will play a vital role in supporting families across Essex. Using your own vehicle, you may provide transport for families to Family Support Groups, attend activities and/or deliver important resources for families to their homes and community locations. 

Depending on your interests and availability, as a Volunteer Driver, you can make a real difference as a: 

Family Support Driver:

• Transporting families to Home-Start Essex Family Groups, activities, and support services across Essex

• Providing a friendly and reliable presence, helping families feel supported and connected 

Delivery driver:

• Delivering important items such as food parcels, clothing, baby equipment, or household essentials to families and community locations

• Offering flexibility, choosing when and how often you volunteer based on your availability 

Your support helps reduce isolation, ease daily challenges, and bring care and connection to those who need it most. The volunteering can take place across Essex, but you can specify how far and when you are prepared to drive.

What skills do I need?

You will be provided with basic training by completing elements of our Volunteer Preparation Course relevant to your role. There will also be opportunities to access ongoing training. Support will be provided by our Area Lead Co-ordinators.
