Volunteer Fundraising Officer

The Thames Sailing Barge Trust is a small registered charity which owns and operates two historic Thames sailing barges from its base in Maldon, Essex. The organisation was formed in 1948 and became a Charitable Trust in 2003. Our objectives are to own and sail two historic Thames sailing barges, provide training and to educate the public about their history. The Trust is in the awaiting the decision on a Heritage Lottery application, but is need of a Volunteer Fundraising Officer to raise funds for the Trust so that it can provide match funding. The Trust funds its day to day operations, which includes sailing, education and training through a number of means, but we need to identify and apply for grant funding for large projects. We require an individual who would be willing to work with the Trust in seeking grants from various grant bodies by researching opportunities and putting together applications. It would help if the applicant had some experience of this in the past and maybe have been involved with the heritage, but this is not essential. The applicant would need to be able to work on their own initiative and be a team player and be willing to attend committee meetings from time to time. Be able to research potential grant providing organisations, complete and submit application. Applicants are asked to provide a CV as part of the application process.
