Volunteer Passenger Assistant

To support our drivers who provide a door to door service to the members of Wyvern Community Transport using an accessible minibus vehicle. Your help is needed to ensure the client is helped on and off the vehicle and seated safely comfortably.

Due to the requirements of some clients, it is sometimes necessary to sit with the passenger for the duration of the journey.

Some clients may also require assistance to carry their shopping on and off the minibus.

This role would suit a friendly and sociable person with a caring nature who enjoys interacting with people.

Travel expenses to and from our office is at 45 pence per mile or public transport fares.

What skills do I need?

The role is perfect for someone who enjoys helping others.

Calm and caring disposition with good communication skills.

Flexible and likes working as part of a team.

Preferably some experience working with the elderly or vulnerable. An understanding of what difficulties they have to accomplish on a daily basis would be an advantage.

To be able to use own initiative in sometimes difficult situations.

Be physically fit and able to move and replace seats on a vehicle as well as securing wheelchairs would be helpful although not necessary.

We would provide MiDAS PAT Training and MiDAS '5 Steps to Safety' Training in house for this role
