An Independent Visitor is an adult volunteer who spends a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday, once a month, supporting children and young people who are living in care. An IV builds a friendship with a young person who would benefit from regular contact.
Parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5K walking/running/volunteering event. The event is organised entirely by volunteers and there are a number of different roles that you can try as a volunteer. The main tasks performed by tailwalker is to be a friendly face or faces, who stay right at the back of the field and to be the last to go through the finish funnel, ensuring that everyone is accounted for.
The main tasks performed by Marshals are guiding, interacting and encouraging the participants around the course, warning them of any obstacles or hazards, alerting the Run Director to any incidents, as well as ensuring that other park users are aware of the event.
