As an Administration Volunteer with Home-Start Essex, you will help our admin team with a variety of office functions to ensure our continued efficiency and professionalism. You may assist with general office functions as well as working on specific projects – all helping to provide the best possible support service to our staff and families. 

There are a number of ways you can provide effective administrative support to the Administration & Communication Managers in areas such as HR, reporting, marketing and communications, and general office duties, which can include the following:

• Human Resources – Assisting with our customer relationship management system, recruitment processes, processing training records

• Comms & Marketing – Sending out communications, monitoring responses

• Fundraising and Funding support – Sending out communications, assisting with contact records, systems and PR materials

• Service Delivery assistance – Helping with referrals and enquiries

• Website – Support to update website (training given)

• Reporting/Data Analysis – Collection and analysis of data and compiling reports for meetings

• Phone Support – Providing phone support with external enquiries

• General office administration - Booking rooms/event assistance, ordering and monitoring office supplies

• Policies and procedures – Updating and monitoring of review dates

What skills do I need?

You will be provided with basic training by completing elements of our Volunteer Preparation Course relevant to your role including Safeguarding, health & safety. There will also be opportunities to access ongoing training. Regular support and supervision will be provided by our Administration or Communications & Marketing Manager. 

What we require – Skills & Experience

Essential:

• Good IT skills across Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, cloud-based applications

• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines

• Proven experience of working well as a member of a team, but also able to work on own initiative 

Desirable:

• Experience of supporting staff and working in an office environment

• Project management

• Report writing/data gathering

• WordPress

• Knowledge of office procedures e.g. Data Protection, confidentiality and health and safety
