Bar work -- serving drinks at Band nights, Comedy nights, community events etc. Alternatively, restocking the bar fridges as they run out. 

Front of House - greeting audience members, scanning tickets, showing to seats if necessary, staying in foyer until event ends. 

Sound and Lighting - operating lighting or sound desk for events. This is technical and requires a degree of commitment to climb the learning curve. Training given.

Events Ambassador - greeting the hirer (usually a band or comedy club but varies) as they arrive to set up their instruments and equipment. Advise where they can find toilets, wifi password, kitchen facilities, changing facilities if needed, stage equipment, electrical sockets etc (a full tech plan will be available incluidng a stage map of equipment available and its location.)

Training given for all of these roles but some roles much easier than others.

What skills do I need?

Mostly soft skills - well-presented, friendly demeanour, willingness to help, responsiveness to customer questions.

Bar volunteers will need to be able to learn how to use a till, change optics when a spirit bottle is empty, restock bar fridges, know how to use glass washer and ice machine. Not complicated and training given. No bar volunteer will be left alone in the bar. Typically we have a team of 4-6 people working the bar, with 8 people if we expect to be using the online ordering system. 

Sound and lighting volunteers will sit in the tech area of the balcony will need to learn the basics of the lighting or sound desks. Experienced technicians welcomed but training will be given to interested parties willing to learn some technical skills. 

Events Ambassadors must have good soft skills (meet and greet) and be able to learn where the facilities are that hirers will need.
