Rainbow Trust Children's Charity is the leading charity in England providing bespoke emotional and practical support direct to families who have a seriously ill child. There is no other organisation that provides the range of services that we do. Rainbow Trust Family Support Workers support the whole family, from their child's diagnosis, during treatment and, if needed, through bereavement and beyond.

You will need to have your own transport for this opportunity

Main duties:

• Accompanying Family Support Worker and family to hospital appointments

• Accompanying Family Support Worker and children on outings

• Participating in craft/play activities with children and families

• Listening to parents, children and young people

• Providing practical support in the family home, including domestic help, cooking and recreational activities.

What skills do I need?

• Ability to build relationships based on excellent communication and active listening skills

• Experience of interacting with people from a wide variety of backgrounds

• Experience of interacting with children and young people

• Ability to work with children and young people with complex health needs

• Flexible and adaptable manner

• Ability to empathise with families in stressful circumstances

• Commitment to setting and maintaining appropriate professional and personal boundaries in line with Rainbow Trust policies

• Non Judgmental approach

• Flexible approach with the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

• Warm, friendly with a sense of humour.

Availability Details

A commitment to a minimum of one shift a week, primarily Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm, but some evenings and weekends may be required.
