Volunteer Driver

Peaceful Place is a day centre for people of working age and older living with dementia.

Our aim is to help our members live their best lives by providing them with activities they can take part in and enjoy.

We are looking for volunteer drivers to help us with the following duties:

• To collect our members from their home addresses in the morning and drive them to our day centre.
• To drive our members home at approximately 3-3.30pm.
• Carry out a vehicle check before commencing journey.
• To report any defects.

You will need to have the following skills:

• Have held a full driving licence for at least two years.
• Good communication skills are required, and you will need to have patience and be understanding of our members needs.
• Experience of working with people who may be frail, mobility, sensory impaired or living with memory loss would be beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of the local area, first aid and manual handling would be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.

We have a small fleet of vehicles and so you will be driving one of our minibuses to transport our members to and from the centre.

If you can spare a few hours a week to help, we would love to hear from you.

We are happy for you to specify if you can do a morning or afternoon driving shift.

We have a friendly and welcoming team here at the Peaceful Place day centre and we will support you as a volunteer if you choose to help us.

An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.

What skills do I need?

You must be over 21 and have held a full driving licence for at least two years.

You will need to be kind, caring and have a patient nature.

You will need to have excellent observational skills.

You will need to be empathetic to our members.
