Library Activity Volunteer (WagFest) Saffron Walden

We are looking for volunteers to support WagFest, a family fun dog show, on Saffron Walden Common as part of a wider community day run by Saffron Walden Town Council. A minimum of three hours support would be appreciated between 8am until 4pm.

All dog related activities raise funds for Saffron Walden Library and Essex Library Service. The dog show runs from 10.30-12.30, stall holders will be present from 10am-3pm.

Tasks to include:

• Help to set up the dog show arena.
• Support the stall holders to set up dog related stalls.
• Supervise the smooth running of the dog show (owners, dogs, judges, public and some stallholders) 
• Signpost the public to other activities on the common inc. first aid ambulance, lost children tent and dog water station.
• Consult with library staff and town council staff all day.
• Help to dismantle dog related equipment and stalls.

What skills do I need?

• Warmth and friendliness with ability to interact enthusiastically and inclusively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
• Practical and ‘hands on’.
• A reliable team worker, able to work with library staff and other volunteers.
• Responsible outlook for own actions and ability to seek support when needed.
• Adaptable to changing circumstances.
• Dog friendly (essential for some roles).
• An enthusiasm for libraries and awareness of services offered.
