Client Support Assistant / Receptionist

Most of our Volunteers will start their Volunteering journey as a Client Support Assistant, working with other Volunteers, supported by a Supervisor and our Training Lead at all times
The role involves:

  • Maintaining our Reception area – greeting Clients, explaining our service, signposting to other services if or when necessary, supporting our appointment system
  • Managing the telephone system: answering Client questions, transferring calls.
  • Speaking to Clients and processing applications for assistance with everyday essentials.
  • Using our Case Recording system
  • Gaining useful communication and interview skills


Training:

This will be via short online bite-size courses and mentoring whilst working. Typically this includes an overview of Citizens Advice’s Principles, Aims and Objectives, GDPR (data protection), dealing with a diverse range of Clients.


Further Opportunities for training and work within Citizens Advice:

Once you become familiar with the organisation, the way we work, the Clients we work with, and the range of issues they may bring to us you may feel that you want to specialise in one of the other areas of our work. Typically this would mean training to be an Assessor or a Generalist Adviser.We may also be able to offer experience in other areas of our work where you may have a specific interest.

Qualifications and Experience?

  • Nothing specific is required but you do need to:
  • Be friendly and approachable
  • Have a good manner when talking to people
  • Have good computing skills
  • Have an understanding of, and a commitment to, confidentiality

Your commitment to us? This will be negotiable but generally we ask that you aim to work the equivalent of 2 x half days a week during Term times
