We are a new group that has been set up for those newly diagnosed and with young onset dementia, this is a exciting new group that is working with Essex University and CVS Tendring as well as many Essex partners .  We are seeking a volunteer secretary to attend the weekly Young Minds Dementia Group meetings weekly from 2.30-4.30p.m

Main duties: Work with group leader and treasurer in the organisation, promotion, record keeping and general smooth running of the group.

  • Maintain up‑to‑date member lists (participants, carers, volunteers).
  • Help prepare agendas and keep records of meetings, attendance, and activity logs.
  • File important documents such as safeguarding records, policies, and consent forms.
  • Arrange committee or volunteer meetings.
  • Track follow-up actions and remind relevant people.
  • Communicate session dates, changes, and reminders to members and carers.
  • Liaise with venues, partner organisations, professionals, or guest speakers.
  • Make sure risk assessments and emergency contact lists are on hand.

We have been asked to run extra hubs so this role could grow

What skills do I need?

Some experience of previous group administration or secretarial duties would be beneficial.

Being organised and methodical

Friendly, willing to help with an interest in mental health and helping others.
