SOS Bus Driver - Chelmsford - URGENT NEED

We are urgently seeking a motivated individual holding a C1 driving licence to ensure that the SOS Bus is in pristine condition at all times by undertaking checks to ensure the vehicle is in working order. You will drive the SOS Bus to the required location, and support the team as an ambassador to the service, before returning the vehicle at the end of the day. 

This opportunity is to volunteer for vibrant local charity, Open Road who support vulnerable people in local Essex communities.  This vacancy is to drive and maintain the Chelmsford Safer Communities and SOS Bus, which supports local night time economies and daytime welfare projects.  This role is done under the direction of the SOS Buses Co-ordinator and promotes the functions of the projects.

What skills do I need?

We are seeking a motivated individual with the following skills, availability and qualifications: 

• Hold C1 Driving Licence to ensure that the SOS Bus is in pristine condition at all times by undertaking checks to ensure the vehicle is in working order.
• Possess a flexible approach to volunteering.
• Available to volunteer on a rota basis and subject to volunteer’s availability, to drive the bus to and from its garaging to service locations at start and end of service days.  Our volunteer drivers’ pool operates Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm; weekends: Friday 5-7pm, Saturday 6-8am and 5-7pm, Sunday 6-8am. • The ability to relate to people with strong communication skills.
