Open Road is looking for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to join our SOS Bus team.
The SOS Bus operates in Chelmsford and Colchester city centres on Friday and Saturday nights, to support those that have found themselves in a vulnerable situation while out using the nighttime economy.
This can include helping people in mental health crisis, reconnecting people that may have got separated from friends and family, giving out water and flip-flops, and generally keeping people healthy on their night out.
The team is also comprised of an advanced medical health professional (often a doctor with A&E background) to administer low level medical interventions and treatment that might otherwise result in an ambulance call out, or a visit to A&E.
The SOS Bus is a unique volunteering opportunity, that is as challenging as it is rewarding,
Join part of this award-winning team and you will receive full training and the opportunity to shadow existing staff and volunteers.
The opportunity is particularly rewarding to those seeking a career in public health and medicine, as well as event management, security, hospitality etc.
No specific qualifications required.
The person should be prepared to interact with the public and be comfortable dealing with or witnessing anti-social behaviour.
Owing to the nature of the job, they would also need to be physically able. But other than this we will consider people of all ages, backgrounds and experience.
