We are looking for a committed and reliable Volunteer Treasurer to join our committee and support the smooth running of our finances. This is a vital role at the heart of our organisation, helping us to manage our funds responsibly and keep things running for our members.
What you’ll do:
- Act as the named signatory on several bank accounts.
- Oversee the management of the group’s finances, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports at committee meetings.
- Monitor income and expenditure, ensuring financial decisions are in line with agreed budgets.
- Make payments, reimburse volunteers, and bank income as required.
- Ensure annual accounts are prepared and submitted in accordance with charity requirements.
- Support the committee in understanding its financial obligations and responsibilities.
- Ensure gift aid/tax rebate is claimed correctly as a registered charity.
- Work with the external independent examiner/auditor where necessary.
Getting started:
- You’ll work alongside the current Treasurer at first, shadowing them to gain a full understanding of our processes.
- Committee meetings are held at Stifford Scout Hall, which you’ll need to attend.
- A DBS check and completion of online safeguarding training are required before starting the role.
