Riverview Charitable Trust is looking for motivated and passionate people to join the Board of Trustees to support the overall governance, strategic direction and monitoring of the charity. Located in Purfleet-on-Thames, we run community-based programmes which address education, safety, health and wellbeing. Specialising in working with families, children and young people, our desire is to provide opportunities for local people experiencing disadvantage to improve their lives through social and personal development by providing a place of support and learning where social interaction and relationship skills are developed alongside tolerance and appreciation of other cultures for the betterment of the whole community.

We are seeking a trustee with the knowledge and skills to assist with the fundraising of unrestricted funds.

What skills do I need?

Essential

  • Background in fundraising and income generation
  • An understanding of the challenges facing small and medium UK charities in maximising income streams and donor cultivation
  • Ability to develop, challenge, and monitor a fundraising strategy, ensuring it aligns with the charity’s goals
  • Ability to monitor income streams, budgets, and cost-effectiveness of fundraising initiatives 

Desirable

  • Experience of bid writing and diversifying funding streams
  • Understanding of how to diversify income and mitigate risk, particularly for small-to-medium charities
  • Understanding of the Code of Fundraising Practice, Charity Commission regulations, and legal duties
  • Knowledge of digital, social media, or marketing to enhance donor acquisition

Availability Details

Quarterly board meetings and action plan meetings are currently planned for 10am on a Monday. We also hold hybrid meetings, although there may be occasions when attendance will need to be in person. There may also be occasions when extra meetings need to be called as matters arise which need to be addressed in between the quarterly board meetings or if we need more time together on action plan work.
