Trustee for the Maeldune Trust The Maeldune Trust is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (No: 1214395) which exists to advance the education of the public in the history and heritage of Maldon, Essex and East Anglia. The Maeldune Heritage Centre is run by the Maeldune Trust in partnership with Maldon Town Council. Please see our website here for further details and images of our work. https://maelduneheritagecentre.org/ You will also find us on Facebook (The Maeldune Heritage Centre) and Instagram (theMaeldune) if you wish to gain further insights to our activity. The Maeldune Heritage Centre is home to the exquisite Maldon Embroidery, 42ft in length created to celebrate 1000yrs of Maldon History, from the Battle to Maldon in 991 to its unveiling in 1991. The Maldon Society displays include local archive material and videos. They also provide an oral listening post with stories of local history. Our exhibition hall displays work of local artists on a three week rolling programme. The gift shop showcases a wide range of products from local craftspeople. The centre is now also the home of the Visitor Information desk. The Centre Manager is the only paid member of staff, all other members of the team are all volunteers. We are currently looking for a new trustee to increase our board diversity. We are looking for someone who has experience in advertising and fundraising. Although we are situated in a prime location, centrally in the High Street, many people are still unaware of what we have to offer. We require an additional Trustee to join the Maeldune Trust Board to work with Trustees on projects to ensure the objectives of the Trust are met and to continue to enhance the visitor experience. If you are interested in the role of trustee or would like to learn more then please : email: Jill Hipsey using chairman.maeldune@gmail.com or email the Maeldune Heritage Centre using info@maelduneheritagecentre.co.uk or seek guidance from websites e.g. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-essential-trustee-what-you-need-to-know-cc3

We are currently a board of seven trustees, each bringing different skills to the team. We meet approximately six times a year together with the Town Clerk and a town councillor representative. We work closely with Maldon Town Council as they own the building which we lease from them. Becoming a trustee with us will give you a sense of pride in promoting Maldon and its’ history to local visitors and those from further afield. Please send your completed application to the chairman’s email above or by post to: The Maeldune Heritage Centre, St Peter’s Tower, Market Hill, Maldon CM9 4RL.  The closing date for applications is 1st June 2026
