To provide a safe, loving, temporary environment for cats and kittens that are awaiting their forever homes. This can be in a spare room or purpose built pen in the garden.
Most fosterers look after one or two cats at a time. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need. You will need to:
• Meet the needs of the cats in your care
• Maintain minimum veterinary and cat care standards
• Clean and look after the cats environment and equipment
• Feed, groom and administer medication (such as flea and worm treatments)
• Spend time enriching the cats experience in care including play, exercise and stroking.
You will be helping to care for our cats and kittens so a love of these animals is a must. You will be patient, empathetic and kind natured.
Applicants would need to have a spare room in their own home, their own transport and be prepared to undertake online learning before taking on their first foster.
A basic knowledge of cats and cat care is required; we will help to train you in other areas including welfare, cat behaviour, health and safety etc.
Good interpersonal skills and willingness to be part of a team. Ideally we would like to hear from people who are able to offer an environment free from other pets so as not to cause any stress to your pets and the felines in our care.
