A volunteer cook is required at Hamelin’s Gowlands respite home in Rochford supporting people with autism and adults with learning disabilities. This could be on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 2-6/7pm. (this could be just 1 day up to 3 days, flexible depending on volunteer availability). 

The volunteer cook will be responsible for preparing meals for between 9 and 15 guests, providing a nutritious and well-balanced meal, paying attention to special diets. 

Interaction with guests would also be required, for example when guests would like to help prepare or cook their own meals.

What skills do I need?

  • experience in a working kitchen is desirable
  • catering qualification desirable
  • Health & Safety certificates desirable
  • patience and understanding
  • ability to work as part of a team
