The Museum of Power is a popular local heritage attraction.

Do you have a few hours to spare? Then the Museum of Power needs you! Why not join us and become an essential part of our organisation.

This role is time flexible and can be adapted to suit your availability/spare time. The role could be shared if there is more than one applicant.

The Museum is closed to the public on Mondays and Tuesday.


In this role you will:

  • Welcome family and adult visitors, treating everyone with dignity and respect
  • Be the first point of contact at the welcome desk.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls.
  • Handle cash and card transactions in the Museum shop.

What is the time commitment?lWe are looking for volunteers who are available on a Wednesday, Thursday , Friday, Saturday or Sunday mornings or afternoons or whole days from 9.00am to 4.00pm.

You will have a named contact from the Museum team and there will be a duty manager on the day to support you who may be Debbie Thomas, the Museum Manager, or James Gulleford, the Assistant Museum Manager.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable and helpful
  • Enthusiastic about the Museum and its collections
  • Reliable and trustworthy and able to provide one reference
  • Confident talking to people of all ages and backgrounds.
