As a volunteer shop floor sales assistant you will be working as part of a team where your main duties will include serving customers on the till, keeping the shop looking clean and tidy, promoting gift-aid among donors and customers, and organising and pricing a wide range of donated items. If you are interested you could also be given responsibility for looking after a specific department within the shop e.g. Bric-A-Brac.

2 hour slots are available.

What skills do I need?

No specific qualifications are required for these roles. We only ask that applicants be friendly, hard-working, reliable & able to work on their initiative. Being familiar with till operation would be a plus but full training is given.

In both volunteer roles available you will be working alongside other volunteers and around our customers, the general public.

    We have two flights of stairs in the back room areas of the shop so there is no wheelchair access to these parts.We have no parking for the shop.

    We will reimburse volunteers parking fees for the time spent in the shop when presented with receipts/tickets.

    Volunteers will be accompanied on the premises by either the manager or a paid sales assistant acting as manager-on-duty at most times. On occasions where the manager/manager-on-duty has to leave the shop, this will only be brief and you should have another volunteer with you.

    Volunteers must be over 16.

    General training. We try to arrange social meetings every now and then for volunteers to all meet one another and relax outside of the shop!

Availability Details

The shop is located in King Street, Saffron Walden, opposite the Cross Keys Pub. Local car parks close to the shop are Swan Meadow and The Common, both just a few minutes walk away. There are bus stops on the High Street just a minute from the shop.
