Adult Volunteer Youth Support Worker

We are running a new Project called Ignite for young people aged 16- 18 years old (upto 21 SEND). The weekly timetable is varied with activities ranging from

•  Bullseye (Youth Fun Darts)
• Walks
• Wood working, Art and Upcycling and Community gardening at CVST Kennedy Way Community Garden
• Project Social 4-6pm involving Board games, Music, Arts and Crafts
• Party Dance

The aim is to engage young people in an inclusive, safe and non-judgmental environment, young people can engage with their community, feel a stronger sense of belonging, and become less vulnerable to negative influences. The volunteer will be helping to run these activities alongside staff. You will develop meaningful relationships with the young people, share your life experiences which will demonstrate that challenges can be overcome, enabling us to move forward in life.

What skills do I need?

Please note for this role you will need to attend these Weekly Youth Session as Young people need consistency to build meaningful relationship. This is NOT a role to Dib and Out of ....

As a volunteer, we would like you to be able to:

• Welcome young people with empathy, a smile and to make them feel welcome and comfortable.
• To have an interest in either sport, arts and crafts and gardening.
• Share your skills with the young people in a patient and calm manner.
• Have a non-judgemental, supportive and positive attitude.
