Our Dementia Café is a weekly coffee shop event, hosted at St Clare Hospice (Hastingwood) every Thursday morning 10 – 12.
This provides an opportunity for carers who support those living with Dementia to meet and have informal discussion and share experiences.
Help prepare the venue and refreshments and clear away after
Welcome people as they arrive and assist newcomers to settle in
Offer cakes and drinks
Inform clients of the services the Hospice offers
Keep attendance figure
Take responsibility for the health and safety of café attendees e.g. ensure any spillages are cleared up
Friendly welcoming approach
Ability to create a supportive environment in which everyone feels welcome
Happy speaking to small groups and to individuals
Excellent listening skills
Able to retain knowledge of Hospice services
Non-judgemental, flexible in approach
Reliable and punctual
Physical ability to carry trays of drinks, move chairs, set tables etc.
