Learning and Engagement Volunteer

·      To assist activities as part of the Lee Valley Regional Park Learning and Engagement (L&E) team’s school/college/youth/special needs/community sessions, events and activities throughout the 10,000 acre Lee Valley Regional Park. If you wish to volunteer only at certain sites this can be accommodated.

·      Among other activities this will include:

o   Providing encouragement and support to predominately young people taking part in sessions/events

o   Helping prepare, set up/take down equipment and resources for activities/ events.

o   Providing extra adult supervision

o   Supporting small group work as part of a larger session led by L&E staff.

o   Assisting with formal and informal educational/community sessions and events

o   Providing support to ensure Health and Safety and safeguarding policies are followed.

·        Regular hours/days cannot be guaranteed due to the nature of bookings.

What skills do I need?

·      Reliable

·      Punctual

·      Adaptable/flexible

·      Good communication skills

·      Keen to work with young people from many different backgrounds and support those with special needs.

·      Knowledge of wildlife/ environment /creativity would be an advantage.

·      Willing to travel to a variety of locations (sometimes independently) within the 26 miles of Lee Valley Regional Park

Being able to ride a bike if possible and do light manual work i.e. Lifting/carrying resource boxes, tables and chairs, sweeping
