Megacentre are looking for a reliable, caring & experienced volunteer to support our weekly SEND family session at The Megacentre Rayleigh. You’ll help create a fun, safe and welcoming environment for children with additional needs while their parents access support from our Lead Family Worker.

Your role will include joining in with simple activities, supporting children to play safely, and helping ensure everyone stays within the session area. 

Key Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with SEND during activities.

• Help maintain a safe environment and ensure children stay within the session area.

• Offer a friendly, reassuring presence to children needing support.

• Assist with setup and pack-down of activities.

• Encourage participation in fun, inclusive activities.

• Monitor safety and report concerns to staff.

• Help create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for families.

Training Provided

• Safeguarding Awareness Children & Young People.

• Introduction to SEND and neurodiversity.

• Health & Safety and emergency procedures.

• Understanding boundaries and safe supervision.

• Shadowing with experienced staff.

• Ongoing support from the Lead Family Worker.

What skills do I need?

Skills

• Friendly, caring and patient approach.

• Good communication skills.

• Reliable and able to follow instructions.

• Experience with children or SEND is essential.

• Calm and observant in busy environments.

Availability Details

This opportunity is available on Mondays at the Megacentre Rayleigh during term time between the hours of 3.45-6.15pm or Wednesdays at the Megacentre Community Space (behind the Rayleigh Methodist Church) 4.00 pm - 6.30pm. We would like a regular commitment from volunteers, but a monthly or fortnightly commitment is welcome.
