We are looking for volunteers who would like to befriend our residents on a regular basis. Our residents enjoy interaction by having conversations over a nice cuppa.. You may even have common interests in music, activities or sense of humour. They enjoy some arts and crafts or games like darts; we even have a Wii with various games to play. They enjoy baking; some enjoy being read to, using computer or simply watching films and having the company with them.
You would not be replacing existing staff, you will be a valued asset to the home. We are not expecting you to undertake any personal care, staff will ALWAYS be available to fulfil these tasks so don't worry!
We would ensure that you are given the necessary knowledge about our residents, respecting confidentiality so you feel comfortable and safe. We would welcome any feedback when you are volunteering. We want this to be a positive experience for everybody.
The home is spacious to meet the needs of our residents with use of frames or wheelchairs if needed. We are currently fundraising as we are building a sensory / activity room in the garden which we hope will be completed in the spring.
In this homely environment we have 8 residents in total with varying needs and learning difficulties. This is a registered care home which is staffed 24 hours a day. The age range of our current tenants is 30 to 80 years old, we currently have 6 gentlemen and 2 ladies. We also have a very affectionate cat called Muppet.
No qualifications required!! Just enthusiasm and lots of kindness is all we are asking for!
